Ayurveda means “the science of life” Although Ayurveda originated in India over 5000 years ago, it has much to offer modern society. Ayurveda shows us how to become healthy and to stay healthy through guidance on all levels - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
This health system addresses the whole person, not just the ailment, with emphasis on prevention and understanding our body’s nature. We need to learn how to live in a healthy way by practicing daily lifestyle measures to balance, and keep in balance, our unique blend of body-mind-spirit.
We will live a happy and harmonious life by following Ayurvedic principles:
“Ayurveda is beyond beginning and ending. It is a science of eternal healing. It is compared to a vast ocean, and studying Ayurveda to swimming across this ocean. A true teacher can teach one to swim, but the swimming is up to the student. It is a lifelong journey.” Charaka Samhita, Sutrasthana, Chapter 3

Dr.Liladhar Gupta of Vrindavan, India, is a 4th generation Ayurvedic doctor. During his youth and schooling his father comprehensively trained him in the knowledge and preparation of Ayurvedic herbs. After obtaining a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry, he entered a 5 1/2 year course of Ayurvedic study and in 1992 achieved his B.A.M.S (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery).
He now travels extensively propagating Aryurveda through seminars and consultations. He has a strong desire to introduce Ayurveda to the world and to demonstrate its holistic nature, grounded in spiritual understanding and practice, as well as its practical and scientific nature. He presents Ayurveda “As It Is” in its original form from the Vedas, and demonstrates the benefits of living the Vedic way of life in the present day.

I have worked with Dr.Liladhar Gupta for many years, both as a recipient of his medical care and as his partner in a preaching alliance for attracting newcomers to Krishna consciousness via their interest in Ayurveda seminars. By expanding his field beyond India to the West, for many years now, he has mastered the art of how to remain true to the classic Ayurveda while relating effectively and potently to the Wild West. Not only has he gotten a feel for the generic health problems and lifestyle errors commonly afflicting ISKCON devotees, but he has also excelled at preaching to Westerners through the Ayurveda, so that some of then turn to full bhakti-yoga. His seminars can accomodate both beginners and the advanced. He has the rare combination of home tutelage from early childhood, as both his father and grandfather were noted Ayurveda kavirajas, as well as many years of studying Ayurveda medicine in the university. Dr. Liladhara Gupta presented Ayurvedic medicine completely in line with Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. The devotees who attended found that not only did their knowledge of Ayurveda increase tremendously, but they gained more appreciation for Vedic culture and Vaisnava etiquitte. I highly recommend his seminar. Bir Krishna dasa Goswami
